Abstract

Digital learning modules are characterised by their scalability and flexible usability. However, to realise their full potential in the long term, targeted support structures and careful integration into blended learning settings are needed to compensate for the weaknesses of asynchronous learning formats. In the EnableD project, digital learning modules were conceived as the starting point for innovative learning settings, rather than merely supplementing and enriching face-to-face formats. The shift in focus towards the modular 'Digital Learning Module Plus' highlights the intentional combination of asynchronous digital content with synchronous elements and an umbrella framing structure. This enables the customised use of a digital learning module in different contexts and for different target groups. It also facilitates didactic depth, social interaction, feedback, and emotional engagement — all of which are key factors in an effective and motivating learning experience.
